Frequently Asked Questions

DO I HAVE TO GET MY VEHICLE SERVICED BY A MAIN DEALER?

The European regulations governing the sales and after sales Servicing of new vehicles changed in October 2003. For new vehicles purchased after that date you are no longer obliged during the warranty period to get the vehicle Serviced by a franchised Dealer. You must, however, continue to get the vehicle Serviced according to the manufacturer's recommended schedules and criteria using only manufacturer's approved parts. The legislation only applies to the part of the warranty offered by the manufacturer, i.e. Insurance-backed extended warranties offered by the Dealers are not covered.

CAN YOU DETAIL THE SERVICE SCHEDULE FOR MY CAR?

The vehicle handbook should include basic Service interval information. We, as a reputable Independent Service Centre, have access to the latest manufacturer's technical data, including details of the manufacturer's Service times, schedules and operations.

CAN YOU FIX MY AUTOMATIC GEARBOX?

Yes, but it is worth mentioning that Automatic Gearboxes are complex pieces of equipment. If the problem is with the electronics that control the Gearbox, it is advisable to seek an opinion from us as we receive regular software updates directly from the manufacturer. If the problem is with the Gearbox itself, we will be able to advise on the best course of action.

WHY MUST I GET MY AIR CONDITIONING SERVICED BY YOU?

Regular Servicing is important for health and to maintain the system working efficiently, as up to fifteen percent of the refrigerant gas will be lost annually from a nominally gas tight system. RUN YOUR AIR CONDITIONING AT LEAST ONCE PER WEEK THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. HAVE THE REFRIGERANT GAS CHECKED REGULARLY AND TOPPED UP BY US TO THE MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDED LEVEL. HELP IMPROVE HYGIENE AND AIR QUALITY WITH A REGULAR "CABIN FILTER" CHANGE. A REGULAR AIR DUCT CLEAN HELPS REMOVE THE BACTERIA AND FUNGI THAT CAN CAUSE UNPLEASANT ODOURS.

HOW LONG SHOULD MY CATALYTIC CONVERTER LAST?

It's not unusual for Catalysts to last ten years, though actual life depends on mileage and the condition of the engine. 50,000 miles is probably a good estimate, you should expect to change the Catalyst once during the life of the vehicle. If the Catalyst does fail it is very important to identify the reason and rectify any issues before fitting a new one, otherwise the new one could fail prematurely.

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF SYNTHETIC OILS?

Synthetic and Semi-Synthetic oils give improved performance at high temperatures and support extended drain intervals, they are generally the preferred choice for high performance vehicles or for motorists who value long life / durability. Your vehicle handbook should specify the grade / type of oil to be used based on the results of extensive durability / extreme environment testing by the manufacturer. If Synthetic oil is recommended for your vehicle, we shall only use Synthetic oil.
